Born in 1960. Master of Arts in Diplomatic and International Studies. Works in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Served as a professional soldier in Denmark from 1979 -1981 and as a UN soldier in Cyprus from 1981-1982. Postings abroad with the Danish Foreign Service include Saudi Arabia, The Czech Republic, Finland and the United Kingdom.

Since 1977 a keen mountaineer and skier with experience from trips in Swedish Lapland, Greenland, the Alps, the Pyrenees, High Tatras and the Cairngorms in Scotland.

In August 2014 Sverri lost the battle against the dreaded disease ALS. Two years went by since he developed the first symptoms till he drew his last breath.

In the battle against ALS there are no winners and Sverri was fully aware of his destiny. Sverri was no quitter and he made an admirable effort to make the most out of the time he had left.

Sverri was a man of integrety, hugely competent and a generous and loyal friend. I could not have had a better expedition partner and friend.
